Day 40 – Even Better Than Usual
Today there was a strong south wind at 15 to 20 mph, with
gusts sometimes greater. It was a
crosswind the majority of the day, which is very manageable. But there was one 19-mile section where we turned
south directly into the wind. It took me
over two hours to cover that 19 miles. I
have gone slower up mountains, but not for 19 consecutive miles. I smiled big when I was finally able to turn
my bike east again.
Terrain was similar to yesterday with the added change of an
occasional long low hill. Other than
facing the south wind, it was another very enjoyable day.
After almost six weeks since last seeing Jill, she drove to
Kansas today. Love having her here and
getting all her support in person. Each
day of this journey has been great.
Today is just greater than most.

Our route was closed due to a carnival. That's a first. Fortunately we could bike right through it. |
Perfect ending to a perfect day. |
Great pic of you two! HAPPINESS!
