Day 32 – Another Day of Dodging Thunderstorms
We biked from Rand, CO to Kremmling, CO today; a 55.4 mile
ride. I have a limited amount of storage on my bike so I must choose between
bringing my digital camera or my rain gear.
There was some very scenic landscape along our route today so I packed
my camera instead of my rain gear. That
was a mistake.
Similar to yesterday we were occasionally surrounded by dark
storm clouds. We watched the weather all
day, quickly biking from one town to another hoping we would not get caught in
a thunderstorm on the way. At one point
we took refuge under a bridge to avoid a passing rain. Despite all the precipitation around us, we
somehow once again avoided getting wet.
Not sure when our luck will run out, but I’ll take it while I can.
We started the day with a 1,000-foot climb and once again
crossed the Continental Divide; at Willow Creek Pass, which is at an elevation
of 9,683 feet.
